New Day and Night First Class Coach
Travellers to the South will be pleasantly surprised when they take the new Air-conditioned Day & Night First Class (ADNF) coach attached to the Senandong Malam train. This new coach, also known as Koc Selesa Kelas Satu offers upgraded, fully air-conditioned for added comfort.
The new ADNF coach will be in operation effective 27 November '98. Introduction of the new coach is part of KTMB's overall plan to upgrade the quality of service throughout its rail network in Malaysia.
Each coach consists of six (6) cabins. Designed for use by one or two people, these cabins have two bunks, with the upper bunks folding up if the compartment is booked for single use. Each cabin or room is equipped with audio visual system, individual controls for lighting and air-conditioning, shower room and toilet, hair dryer and baggage rack. Room amenities such as body soaps, towels, shower cap, shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste will be provided to passengers. There is a staff call button in each room or cabin.
Initially the ADNF coach which is attached to the Senandung Malam train will be plying between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore daily. The train will depart Kuala Lumpur at 10.30 p.m. and arrive Singapore at 7.17 am. Meanwhile the Senandung Malam train will leave Singapore at 10.10 pm. and arrive Kuala Lumpur at 6.15 am. These new coaches will be introduced to other sectors in phases.
KTMB felt there was a need to upgrade the train service in view of the fact that there is demand for passenger services in the southern sector.
Travelling fares for this service are inclusive of food and drinks. The fares are as follows:-
Kuala Lumpur - Johor Bahru RM 125.00 (Lower berth)
Kuala Lumpur - Singapore RM 130.00 (Lower berth)
Singapore - Kuala Lumpur *SD 130.00 (Lower berth)
KTMB also offers special discount for those travelling single and require one cabin to himself / herself. At only RM 180.00 for Kuala Lumpur - Singapore, he/she can enjoy the privacy of the new Air-conditioned Day and Night First Class coach. Being on overnight service, while you sleep KTMB does the driving.
